Multi gyms or multi stations are common in commercial facilities. Often times, in a commercial gym you'll want to have many different strength stations, such as chest press, leg extension, lat pull down just to name a few. So, why not utilize a multi station design to save space in your facility?
One of the biggest benefits of multi station equipment is that it saves space and will potentially be more cost effective than having all separate workout stations. The size of the multi gym will depend on the amount of weight stacks and stations. A multi gym can be as simple as a cable crossover with lat pull down on either side, or as big as a 9 stack multi station, so the size can vary quite a bit.
Generally speaking, multi gyms are created for commercial facilities. Some people may utilize a 2 or 3 weight stack multi station in their home gym, but it's more commonly utilized in a commercial setting. The multi gyms we would recommend looking at are by Matrix Fitness and Hoist Fitness. Both companies create high quality, durable multi stations with many different options ranging from two to nine stations
A multi gym can be catered towards your needs and customized in terms of what specific stations you would like to have for strength training. If you are unsure what your clients would like best for strength training exercise, our team of commercial account managers can help guide you towards the most popular stations and features for a multi gym
As with any piece of equipment you want to ensure that the frame of the unit is sturdy with lasting durability. The frame of a multi station should not give you any trouble. Aside from durability, of course you'll want to look at the dimensions.
The weight of the weight stacks is something else you'll want to consider. Some multi stations will have 150lb stations, whereas others will go up to 200lbs and beyond. This will again come down to the demographic of the users. For a younger demographic it's a good idea to have higher weight stacks and for an older demographic it's probably not as important. Another nice feature is to have the weight stacks protected for added safety. While most users should know how to safely make adjustments to the increments it's a nice layer of protection and safety, especially if you have teenagers using the gym. Lastly, weight stacks will generally be cast iron or steel, but there may be different options for finishes on the weight stacks.
